REEs are a group of 17 specialized metals crucial for modern technology, from smartphones and electric vehicles to wind turbines and medical devices. Global demand for REEs is surging, and the Republic of Congo is estimated to hold significant deposits of these valuable elements, particularly neodymium and praseodymium. Developing this sector could position the Republic of Congo as a key player in the global supply chain, attracting investment and fostering economic diversification.

Furthermore, the Republic of Congo's existing mining activity, particularly in gold and base metals like lead and zinc, presents opportunities for expansion and value addition. Currently, a significant portion of the mining sector operates informally.
