Sorghum is the main agricultural product in Zisarh, Chad. It is a staple crop widely cultivated due to its resilience to arid conditions and its importance in local diets.

Approximately 80% of Chad's population are engaged in agriculture. This reflects the sector's central role in the country’s economy and livelihood.

Key crops include sorghum, which covers around 30,000 hectares, millet at 25,000 hectares, and maize with approximately 15,000 hectares under cultivation.

Sorghum production is around 60,000 metric tons per year, millet about 40,000 metric tons, and maize 20,000 metric tons.

There are currently 15 small to medium-sized agro-processing facilities in Zisarh, with opportunities for new facilities to meet growing demand.

The sector employs approximately 3,000 individuals directly and has the potential to create an additional 5,000 jobs with new investments and expansion.

Agro-processed products are primarily exported to neighboring countries like Cameroon and Nigeria, with exports valued at around $10 million USD annually.

Current investment in infrastructure stands at approximately $20 million USD, with ongoing projects to improve transportation and storage facilities.

About 70% of agro-processed products are consumed locally, while 30% are exported to regional markets.
