Fight Against Poaching & Illegal Activities In Forests
With nearly 11% of its territory designated as national parks, Gabon stands out as a bastion of biodiversity in Central Africa.
On March 1, 2024, we signed a key agreement aimed at strengthening the fight against poaching and illegal activities in forests, particularly in the peripheral areas of the SNBG Leyou and GAW Ogooué forest concessions, near the cities of Moanda, Lastourville, and the Fondation Lekedi biodiversité sanctuary in Bakoumba, by promoting certification of forest management and biodiversity conservation.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Water and Forests, led by Brigadier General Maurice Ntossui Allogo, and in partnership with the NGO CONSERVATION JUSTICE ASBL, represented by its Executive Director Luc Mathot, the agreement was signed between the various stakeholders including the Lékédi Biodiversity Foundation and Gabon Advance Wood.
Gabon Advance Wood, a subsidiary of GSEZ, is firmly committed to supporting the government in the fight against illegal forestry exploitation, by financing, with the various partners, a brigade to control poaching and illicit forestry activities.
