Total demand for packaged medicines in Africa amounts to around $18 billion a year, of which 61% is imported and 36% locally produced. Increased spending in Africa, a wider market base , a maturing business environment and increasing generalization are expected to drive growth in the pharmaceutical industry, forecast at a CAGR of 5.13% between 2022 and 2027 (UNIDO).
In the DRC, regulatory reforms are being taken by the Government to spur the growth of the pharmaceutical industry. The Government has recently restricted the imports of products of specific anti-malaria, anti-inflammatory medications, vitamins. We believe that the Kin-Malebo region stands as a favorable gateway for investors seeking to capitalize on this alluring investment opportunity, by providing support for the establishment of their factories, obtaining approvals, and sales on the local market.
