Rwanda's population is projected to reach 16.3 million by 2030 (Worldometer), with a growing middle class exhibiting a rising appetite for meat. This translates to an estimated annual meat consumption growth rate of 5.3% (IndexMundi). However, domestic meat processing struggles to meet this demand, with imports accounting for a significant 40% of Rwanda's meat consumption (FAOSTAT). This substantial gap signifies a prime opportunity for investors like you.
The Rwandan government is taking initiatives to increase the livestock supply and meat production. There is a need for processing facilities that have the capacity to uptake livestock currently being exported to external markets by boosting meat production for Rwanda domestic market as well as export to DRC, Uganda and Tanzania. BSEZ boasts a prime location near Kigali, Rwanda's capital, and offers excellent transport links to regional markets like the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi. This strategic positioning, coupled with potential trade agreements within the East African Community (EAC) with a combined population of over 200 million (World Bank), allows you to efficiently distribute processed meat products to a vast consumer base beyond Rwanda's borders.
